Christopher England will open the session with a discussion regarding SciScore, an AI tool APS launched in 2021 to improve rigor & reproducibility in submitted/published research, as well as give a “sneak peek” at the all-new Peer Review Training course APS will be launching in 2022.

Dr. Merry Lindsey will focus on the efforts being made in AJP-Heart and Circ to introduce rigor and reproducibility expectations for use of sex and gender in cardiovascular research. Included in the discussion can be the calls for papers in both AJP-Heart and Circ (https://journals.physiology.org/ajpheart/considering-sex-as-a-biological-variable-in-cardiovascular-research) and AJP-Renal (https://journals.physiology.org/ajprenal/renal-adaptations-in-pregnancy-maternal-health-disorders-and-womens-health)

Kara Hansell Keehan will dive into why and how physiologists in every sub-discipline are connecting with each other and engaging with journals on Twitter. We will discuss how APS journals use Twitter to amplify the reach of research published in our journals and build stronger connections with readers, authors, educators, and editors in the physiology community Colette Bean will discuss why authors choose to publish with the journals who support their careers.
